Ernie Godden

Ernie was born in Greenwich, London in 1946. After leaving school worked as a graphic designer ,studio manager and partner in various studios in London, Bournemouth and in the Pyrenees, France.

In 1991 he moved to Dartmoor, Devon and with growing success committed himself to painting full-time. He is completely self taught. Landscape and seascapes paintings in pastel, watercolour and mixed media can be found in various galleries and in private collections throughout the UK, France, USA, Hong Kong and Australia. Ernie has also paintings on the on-line Saatchi Gallery.

In January 2008, after much consideration, Ernie and Lyn decided to take the exciting step of moving to France. Long-time visitors to the country, they felt the time was right for a "new" adventure. Ernie’s mother is French, so they are quite "at home" in france. They are now enjoying majestic views of the Pyrenees and the "Montagnes Noire" from their new home near Lautrec.

The new landscape means a change from the "soft" cool palette of Dartmoor to the "hot" warm palette of the South West of France. The website will be updated with examples of Ernie’s work as soon as it becomes available.

In his spare time, ernie divides his time between Tai Chi, Painting, sculpture, playing jazz alto sax and walking his constant companion "Jed" , his Rhodesian Ridgeback.
