Ernie was born in Greenwich, London in 1946. After leaving school he worked as a graphic designer and studio manager for various companies in London, Bournemouth and in the Pyrenees, France. In 1991 he moved to Dartmoor, Devon and with growing success committed himself to painting full-time. He is completely self-taught. Landscape and seascape paintings by Ernie in pastel, watercolours and mixed media can be found in various galleries and in private collections throughout the UK, France, USA and Australia. Ernie has recently been invited to exhibit on the on-line Saatchi Gallery. Commissions are accepted. In January 2008, after much consideration, Ernie and Lyn decided to take the exciting step of moving to France. Long-term visitors to the country, they felt the time was right for a new adventure. Ernie's mother is French, so they are quite 'at home' in France and are now enjoying majestic views of the Pyrenees in their new OGasconš base, down in the south west of the country. This new landscape means a subtle change to Ernie's colour palette and some very different, but equally dramatic scenery, to study and paint. The website will be updated with examples of Ernie's new work as soon as it becomes available. In his spare time, Ernie divides his time between Tai Chi, sculpture and ceramics, playing jazz on alto sax and walking his constant companion 'Jed', his Rhodesian Ridgeback, (who is rapidly learning French and making friends with lots of French poodles...) | ||||
